Presenter Bio:

Dr. Levon Atoyan co-founded Shift Thermal, an award-winning company commercializing advanced thermal energy storage based on its innovation in direct contact heat exchange. Much of his work has revolved around evaluating the company’s technology in various HVAC applications by combining modeling with real-world constraints. His models incorporate not only his thorough understanding of chiller and heat pump technology, but also of the evolving energy storage markets.

Presentation Abstract:

Energy markets are evolving rapidly, as is the HVAC sector. Understanding how HVAC is affected by the energy transition and how it can best leverage these changes will be key to shifting HVAC into the future. In this talk, Dr. Levon Atoyan will go over how the US energy markets are changing as it relates to commercial buildings, and how thermal energy storage systems, with an emphasis on Shift Thermal’s innovative direct contact heat exchange technology, can best adapt to this changing landscape.
